GRANNY FLATS
Granny flats can have a maximum living space size of 70m² only. This is a slight increase from the old size of 60m² due to the recent revision of the R-Codes. This maximum size excludes patios, porches, verandahs etc. Please also note that in some cases the maximum area may be increased above 70m² but these exceptions are not common and generally only relate to rural properties and is at the descretion of some councils. It is also worth mentioning that only one Granny Flat per property is allowed.
